My name is Fritz Ahlquist, and I am the owner and gunsmith behind every custom rifle and gunsmithing service I offer. Whether you're looking for a fully custom-built rifle, upgrades, or repairs, I pride myself on providing expert craftsmanship.

The Craft

With over 20 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to mastering the art of precision rifles. My journey began at the Colorado School of Trades, where I developed a solid foundation in gunsmithing. I then honed my craft working at a well-respected local shop, gaining invaluable experience and knowledge.

​Eventually, I joined the team at Mile High Shooting, working alongside some of the top gunsmiths in the country. During my time there, I learned from the best and earned my place among them—recognition from my peers for my precision and expertise in the field.

After years of refining my craft in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, I decided to take the next step and establish Black Canyon Customs. For me, this isn’t just a job—it’s a passion. Every rifle I build or service is a true work of art, created with meticulous care and precision that can only come from years of dedication to the craft.
